Truly from the fire to the future – we will rebuild All Saints Church together with a local Community Hub where our original hall was sited.
Great News, The Rebuild has started!
Randell Construction, the local builder started work on Dec 8 2025 and is already making progress. Rebuilding will take over a year followed by fitting out for completion in early 2027.
Tony Eden, a Churchwarden will be providing regular progress reports below.
Progress Report 2 Jan 27
In spite of challenging weather conditions during January, steady progress has been made with the church rebuilding. The “tolling” bell has been removed and returned to the foundry where it will be melted down and recast. It will eventually be hung at the east end of the church, replacing the bell that was badly damaged in the fire. The bell tower has now been taken down in readiness for the construction of the new entrance to the church. Demolition work continues in preparation for the new entrance and layout to the hall. The whole building is now protected with 3 metre high corrugated sheeting to make the building as safe as possible while the work continues.

Progress report no. 1
Work started on schedule to rebuild All Saints Church on Monday 8th December. The first task has been to erect scaffolding around the walls of the building to enable a close inspection of the condition of the walls. The floorboards in the church have been removed to assess the condition of the supporting structure. During this work a family of frogs was discovered under the floorboards and they have now been rehoused in the pond which is on site. Corrugated sheeting has been fixed to the scaffolding on the front side of the church to protect the building whilst work is underway. Work will resume on 5th January following the Christmas break.

The costs for the works to repair the project are being covered by our insurance company the Ecclesiastical Insurance Company, but the substantial improvements will need to be funded by ourselves and hopefully with the help and support of others, namely our church members, local community and charitable trusts who we have already engaged with.
We are particularly keen to publicly acknowledge the most significant of Charitable trust donations/pledges made to support the project so far, these are from –
- Garfield Weston £50,000
- Bernard Sunley Foundation £50,000
- Beatrice Lang Trust £25,000
- The Benefact Trust £14,000
We are thankful also to the many who have already supported our fundraising efforts either directly or through attending some of our many fundraising events. The last event this year is the ball at the Kings Arms Hotel on 15 Nov 2025. Please see posters on web site for tickets.
We are really excited to look forward to the delivery of such an amazing project, designed by Clews our invaluable partner, acting for us as our architect and project manager. This facility is for the benefit of the church and most importantly for our community, with key improvements including the following –
- New ramped accessible entrance to the hall and church accommodation.
- New lift to access increased first floor space for our community to use.
- Sensitive provision for accessible use of building and toilets.
- More flexible and lighter internal space of church and hall.
- Improved energy solution with hidden solar panels to improve carbon footprint and costs.
- Underfloor heating system for comfort and energy efficiency
We thank our community very much for all your support as we have worked towards this exciting milestone, and we very much hope that you will continue to stand with us as work on the ground begins and our fundraising continues towards completion.
We will keep you updated as the project develops, but please keep in touch, we would love to welcome you back to our renewed building and for you to join us regularly as we serve our local community. Our church continues to meet in Stanpit village hall on Sundays and uses a range of other buildings for other activities, to those hirers we are also most grateful.
